All That Remains

All that remains, taken from the poem Going Going by Phillip Larkin, explores the overlooked beauty of salt marshes and the landscape that surrounds them. Salt marshes are rapidly disappearing due to the increase in global warming causing sea levels to rise. According to the BBC it is said that this could take place by 2040 in the South-East of England, and across the rest of Great Britain by 2100. Not only are these marshes used to protect coastal areas from erosion and help to reduce flooding, but they are also home to many forms of wildlife. My final series documents areas of marsh land located in Kent, Mersea Island, Tollesbury, St Osyth and Lowestoft. My aim is to make people aware that these areas are very important and shouldn’t be overlooked, damaged, redeveloped or destroyed.
